Centre for Rational & Cognitive Therapies

Welcome to the Canadian Centre for Rational and Cognitive Therapies. The Centre opened in 2012 and is a member of the International Association for Rational Emotional Behaviour Therapy (IAREBT). The Centre is an academic psychotherapy centre committed to the training of health professionals in the application of effective, short-term therapy with long-term results.

Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) is considered the first form of cognitive therapy, developed by Dr. Ellis in 1955. Evidence-influenced cognitive behavioural-based therapies have become widely accepted as effective in the treatment of specific disorders.

In keeping with goals of IAREBT, the therapeutic approach is based on Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT). REBT teaches individuals how to change self-defeating thoughts, behaviours and emotions into healthier life enhancing alternatives.

In addition to professional training, the Centre offers clinical services and educational lectures and workshops for the public.
